No-one knows for sure what happened. Most people just call it "the Event" - pronounced with a capital E. Whatever it was, it wiped out civilisation as we know it.
You, and the survivors who now look to you for leadership and guidance, can safely roam further from your hard-won shelter, scavenging for supplies and seeing who else is out there. Perhaps this is your chance to rebuild civilisation - do better than what came before. Or perhaps this is your chance to finally leave a life of tedious responsibilities behind and just enjoy what's left.
